Writing, 2017: Forecasting weather on Lake Superior and the Great Lakes in an era
of technology is thejob of science and operations officer Dan Miller at Duluth's National Weather Service office. After over two decades of research and writing, I have self-published the extensive history of Superior's Fraser Shipyards Inc., focusing on the modern era from 1948 to 2017,
with an overview of the origins of the shipyard in 1890 through its early inception to its overall decline in the 1940s.

Writing, 2016: Climb aboard the S/S Herbert C. Jackson for a ride on the last steamship
in the century-old history of the Interlake Steamship Company. Explore the 60-year history
of the Hallett Dock Company, the Twin Port's largest and most successful bulk cargo handling facility.
The Winter issue of the Seaway Port Authority's North Star Port tells the story of
Ethan "Big E" McCray, a story of heartbreak, courage, and friendship on the Great Lakes.
"It's one of my favorite fetures included in the magazine in recent years," says Adele Yorde,
Public Relations Director at the Duluth Seaway Port Authority.

profiled in Positively Superior. Find out what new at the Transportation and Logistics
Research Center at UW-Superior, learn about a legacy of safety on the Great Lakes on the
40th anniversary of the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald and an overview of Northern Engineering, Inc.

Writing, 2014: As the final Canadian steamer makes it farewell runs, Chief Engineer Bill Armitage
sits down to talk about his work and the end of the Algoma Montrealais.
The Fall 2014 cover of North Star Port features my photograph of the Algoma Transport unloading salt,
along with a feature article about the salt trade at the Port of Duluth.
Two non-maritime local business profiles for the Duluthian came out in the spring, the first
showcasing the W.P. & R.S. Mars Company, and the second taking a look at Minneapolis Oxygen,
and an article for Positively Superior on Lakehead Constructors, Inc.

Writing, 2013: A Lake Superior Magazine feature on Fraser Shipyards, along with a double crew profile
on Capt. Paul Franks and Chief Dave Guay of the Mesabi Miner; a visit with Captain Jim Leaney
