Growing up in Superior's North End instilled in me the sense of industry on a grand scale;
elevators, coal docks, ships and rail yards. The imagery that has emerged from this
environment is deeply rooted in the complexity and color that is found on the waterfront.
Photographing ships - having a full shot view of every ship that sails has never been a priority.
The ultimate goal is to recreate the feeling that exudes from each scene - capturing the light
the composition, the colors - reds, rusts, blacks, and greens; their textures and hues.
Blending these elements together to create the feel of the scene is what I work for.
The images you can view here are representative of the complexity found within this
industrial landscape, the scale of shipping found within, and the grandeur of the
nature surrounding it.
