The Herbert C. Jackson departs Superior
Struggling in December with high winds and heavy winter weather the Jackson enjoys the relative calm of the Duluth-Superior harbor as the vessels heads outbound for Marquette.

The Herbert C. Jackson takes a small load of 15,500 tons of coal for the Shiras Power Plant at Marquette, Michigan.

Captain Robert Thibadeau

Captain Robert Thibadeau is a 1979 graduate of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy at Traverse City, Michigan. The Jackson is Captain Thibadeau's first full-time command for Interlake Steamship of Cleveland.


The Herbert C. Jackson is powered by a 6, 600 hp steam turbine. The vessel was converted from a coal-fired vessel to fuel oil in 1975.
